Teacher’s Day: Date, history, significance and celebration in India

Teacher’s Day in India is celebrated on 5th of September every year. It is the celebration of the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr. Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President of India and the second President of India, was a teacher and scholar. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, the country’s “highest civilian honor”.

Why is Teacher’s Day celebrated?

Teacher’s Day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Once, his students asked him, would he allow him to celebrate his birthday. To this Radhakrishnan denied any special treatment but suggested to the students that they may celebrate this day as Teacher’s Day to recognize their contribution to the society. This is how it all started.

Why is Teacher’s Day special?

This day is to show respect to all the teachers. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm in all types of institutions (government and private) related to education across the country. Students pay respect to the teachers on this day and give them some gifts and show appreciation and gratitude towards the teachers.

Guru is given the highest status in Indian culture. Guru is the one who inspires us to walk on the most difficult path. Because there is no great success on easy paths
How students can make this day special for teachers:
First of all, take the blessings of your gurus and ask for forgiveness for all the mistakes made by you.
Make a personalized card and write a note.
Organize virtual sessions with all the tutoring buddies and surprise the teachers.
If you are unable to give some gifts to the teachers, then you should give them respect and obey them because no teacher will be so happy with the gift, respect is enough for them.
